CLIENT & PROJECT
[Accenture + AWS] Velocity
project overview
For AWS re:Invent 2022, our mission was to showcase how Accenture and AWS are empowering organizations to embrace change like never before. We aimed to highlight our new Velocity platform, designed to enable businesses to transform their operations swiftly and effectively, ensuring they stay ahead of the competition. By sharing compelling case studies and real-life transformation stories, we illustrated how leveraging the expertise of AWS and Accenture can drive innovation and foster exciting new business models. Ultimately, we sought to inspire attendees to view change not just as a challenge but as a remarkable opportunity to reinvent their futures. This initiative was part of a comprehensive 360-degree design campaign, engaging diverse audiences through multiple touchpoints.
Design Process
Client Meetings: We kicked off the project by meeting with the client team responsible for the event to understand their needs and expectations. This initial discussion was crucial in shaping our creative direction.
Creative Team Brainstorming: Following the client meetings, our creative team convened to brainstorm how to effectively communicate the project's manifesto through various assets. We focused on establishing a cohesive tone, selecting typography, and choosing photography and graphic elements that aligned with our vision.
Asset Development: We then transitioned into asset creation, designing a diverse range of materials, including posters, signage, card games, special invitations, graphics for an energy coffee event, mockups for a case study newsletter, and an animated video. For the video, I was responsible for visualizing the animation based on the script developed during our team discussions. This involved creating storyboards to depict the animation's flow and designing 3D styleframes to showcase the visual aesthetic. We also developed a comprehensive styleguide to ensure consistency across all design elements.
Client Review: After developing these concepts, we presented our ideas to the clients to gather their feedback and determine which assets they wanted to move forward with.
Production: Once the assets were approved, we entered the production phase. This involved coordinating with printers and vendors to produce physical materials and finalizing the storyboards for the video. We closely monitored the production process to ensure that all elements were delivered on time and met our quality standards.
Early Explorations
In this phase, we zoomed in on a few key visual styles that we believed would work best for our project. Our goal was to maintain a modern and techy aesthetic that reflected the innovative nature of Accenture and AWS. By narrowing our focus, we aimed to identify a direction that clearly communicated our message and aligned with the project’s objectives.
Storyboard Development
During the development process, we began blocking out our next storyboards, refining our chosen styles. This involved creating initial sketches and layouts, which allowed us to visualize the narrative flow and establish a cohesive design approach for the animation.
Stylistic Direction & Animation Blueprint
In this part of the process, we focused on finalizing our stylistic choices while outlining our next steps for the animation. The team collaborated to decide on the visual direction, sketching ideas and ensuring everything aligned with our overall project vision. This groundwork set us up for a smooth transition into the final phase, where our concepts would come to life.
Final Storyboards
These final storyboards illustrate the refined visual direction and narrative flow of the animation, closely aligned with the script. Each storyboard frames key moments that complement the messaging, ensuring that the animation effectively conveys the intended story. This blueprint serves as a crucial reference for the next steps, highlighting how our creative concepts will come together to engage the audience.

Results and reflection
The Accenture and AWS initiative for AWS re:Invent 2022 turned out to be a fantastic experience, generating great feedback from attendees and stakeholders. Everyone appreciated how well the campaign communicated the message of transformation and innovation. Although we didn’t end up animating the video, the planning and storyboarding process was a highlight for us. It was thrilling to dive into the creative possibilities and visualize how dynamic storytelling could elevate our message. The excitement around those concepts was palpable, and it resonated with both our team and the client. They were pleased with the final deliverables and valued our cohesive design approach. This project taught us the importance of open communication with clients and reinforced the power of collaboration within our creative team. Moving forward, we’re eager to bring even more stakeholder input into our early design phases to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.
